Feature Wedding – Evelyn and Mark Casey

Feature Wedding – Evelyn and Mark Casey

Celebrating their own historic moment, Mark and Evelyn Casey chose a vintage theme when they tied the knot on November 22, 2014 in Sydney.

Evelyn’s beautiful dress with swirling skirts and her two metre veil were coupled with royal blue accents from the flowers, bridesmaids’ dresses and the groomsmen’s accessories.

It all tied in beautifully with the historic backdrop of St Marks Catholic Church at Drummoyne and the equally breathtaking Curzon Hall as they created their very own moment in time.

Here Evelyn steps us through the highlights of the special day.

Describe Your Wedding Dress

Vision In White Feature Wedding Evelyn CaseyThe words “true Princess dress” come to mind whenever anyone has asked me to describe my dress.

It was not the style I had been originally going for but when my Mum cried as she saw me try it on for the first time, I knew this was dress!

It was a Bridal Chic dress – style 1825. The bodice was embellished with beautiful crystal and beading with flower patterning flowing from the bodice right down to the bottom of the skirt. I got my bodice altered by Bridal Chic to have a sweetheart neckline and also to come with a lace up back, which are the two things I had always dreamed of for my dress.

My two metre veil, which came all the way from the United Kingdom matched in completely.

I absolutely loved my full skirt, with its long sweeping train and the one off shoulder strap that was personally created by the Vision in White seamstress.

The dress was so incredibly comfortable to wear and I couldn’t have asked for anything better.

What Did The Bridesmaids Wear?

My three bridesmaids wore royal blue floor length chiffon dresses, with ruching around the bust. The flowing material was perfect for a potentially hot Sydney wedding day and the colour suited the complexion of all three girls.

We wanted the bridal party to look elegant for the theme and reception venue so we chose black suits from Liverpool with satin lapels and black vests. The boys also wore royal blue ties to match the girls. The boys looked very handsome indeed in their slim fit suits!

What Style Of Wedding Did You Go With?

We both wanted a small and simple, yet elegant wedding with traditional elements and family members to be included. I’m a history teacher and I love anything old so to combine all those elements we went for an elegant royal vintage theme.

Where Was The Ceremony And Reception Held?

The ceremony was held at St. Marks Catholic Church in Drummoyne and the reception at Curzon Hall in Marsfield.

Both venues were built between the late 1800’s and early 1900’s which matched our theme perfectly and created some beautiful photos. They were also close to each other in location which was perfect for the majority of our guests who had travelled from all across Australia and overseas.

Tell Us About Your Bouquet

The scent from the flowers in my bouquet was amazing. I wanted my bouquet to be all natural which made finding naturally blue flowers during that time of the year hard. What Cassandra of The Enchanted Florist was able to create was amazing.

It was a tear drop shaped bouquet that included peonies and sea holly, along with white roses. Evelyn Casey 6

What Gifts Did You Give To Your Guests?

Mark and I wanted to accommodate all our guests so we decided to have a choice of two gifts on the tables for the guests which would also match our theme.

We had vintage silver keys that were actually bottle openers which mainly suited the male guests. For the women, we had silver and white candles in the shape of a royal horse and carriage.

Where Did You Spend The Honeymoon?

A lot of people found it unique that Mark and I decided to travel through Africa in a tour group with Africa Travel Company for our honeymoon.

We visited South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana. The experience was amazing and certainly a unique honeymoon having to sleep in a tent and sleeping bag for three weeks. However, Mark got to fulfil his dream of walking with lions and I got to see the elusive leopard in the wild.
We did finish our honeymoon off in traditional style with one week in the crystal clear waters of Mauritius.

Top Three Moments From Your Wedding Day?

  1. Arriving at the church to hear Van Morrisons “Have I Told You Lately” being sung and played on the piano. I was originally told we wouldn’t be allowed to have that song played in the church. I was so happy to hear it.
  1. Mark’s amazing wedding speech made me bawl my eyes out! It really surprised me as he is not a man of many words or one that expresses his feelings very often.
  1. Finally doing our wedding waltz. Mark was so nervous but he did such a good job remembering all the steps we had created and everyone roared with applause at the end.
