25 Nov Feature Wedding – Adele & Wayne Lawton
Romance, natural beauty and the Southern Highlands tend to go hand in hand. But the romance factor was amped up when Adele Cuthbert and Wayne Lawton exchanged wedding vows in Bowral on September 27, 2014.
With the beautiful grounds of Briars Lodge as the backdrop, Adele and Wayne said ‘I do’ beside a stunning pond as willow trees trailed softly in the water.
The happy couple pulled together a modern country wedding on a sunny, spring day in one of the most spectacularly gorgeous parts of Australia.
Adele shares some of her special memories and details of the day she became Mrs Lawton.
1. Tell us about your dress
My dress was from Vision in White, of course! It was a Wendy Makin Bella Donna gown called Estelle. It was absolutely beautiful. I just loved it as soon as I put it on. It was exactly what I wanted…beautiful lace with a lovely back to it. I love the photo of Wayne and I with the willow trees in the background. It shows how beautiful the back of the dress was.
2. What did your bridesmaids wear?
They wore navy blue long dresses that looked gorgeous. The design of the dresses flattered all the girls and the colour matched in perfectly with the look and feel of the whole wedding.
3. What look did the groomsmen go for?
The guys wore grey suits and ties to match the bridesmaids’ dresses. They also wore white suits and chestnut coloured shows. Wayne wore a navy blue suit with a white vest and tie with chestnut shoes too.
The bridal party looked pretty fabulous all together!
4. What style of wedding did you have?
If I was to define it, I would say the style was modern country romantic. It all came together nicely.
5. Where was your ceremony and reception?
We held both the ceremony and the reception at Briars Country Lodge in Bowral.
It’s a stunning venue with everything you need right there. Beautiful gardens, we loved getting married down by the pond and the conservatory for the reception was perfect. There is also lots of accommodation. Most of our guests stayed overnight so they didn’t have to drive home.
6. What flowers did you have in your bouquet?
I loved my bouquet. It was absolutely beautiful. I know I keep saying that word a lot but it all truly was so beautiful! I was wanting soft mid-pink, champagne colours to bring out the blue in the dresses and the green in the grass. There were cream roses and David Austin roses which are always so delicate and stylish. I was very happy with them.
7. What gifts did you give to your guests?
We did a lolly table. Everyone could grab what they want and take their stash of lollies home with them. It was pretty retro. All original lollies with chocolates such as Fantales, Golden Roughs and Smarties and lollies like strawberry cream and snakes. Everyone’s favourites. They loved it!
8. Where was your honeymoon?
We chose Hawaii. Three chilled out nights in Maui and seven nights in Waikiki.
