24 Feb Behind the Scenes at Vision In White
Our Master Seamstress – Lek
Lek was the 5th in a family of 10 and was born in Thailand before moving to Vietnam as a young girl. She moved to Australia some 25 years ago where she met and married Paul who is a web designer and photographer. Together they have a son called Sam who is a landscape gardener.
Lek is our head seamstress and is also in charge of training our consultants in bridal fittings. What I love about Lek is her loyalty, workmanship and amazing work ethic. The joy of Lek is that her loyalty does not only include her team at Vision in White but also extends to her brides. Lek takes her responsibility to her brides very seriously and has been known to work miracles in sometimes very difficult circumstances.
Some years ago we had a fire at our old premises which rendered the work room unusable and we could not find alternative accommodation at short notice. Lek resolved the dilemma by arriving every day by train, picking up the gowns from the store, and completing her duties at home. The interesting thing was she was not asked to do it, she merely saw what needed to be done and got on with it. She felt it was important that her brides were not stressed, and to this day they are not aware of the extra load that she took on to ensure their day went off smoothly.
I bought Vision in White & Formal Image over a decade ago, and I suppose you could say Lek came with the business. I feel personally blessed that she has been quietly by my side working her magic ever since.
